Chillent Release “Universe in Miniature” single

Pittsburgh klezmer jam funk band Chillent have released their single “Universe in Miniature“, as mixed by musician Brian Fitzy, to Bandcamp. You can check it out below.

Formed in late 2015, Chillent describe their sound on their website as “Jewish Soul Stew” and list Phish, Maceo Parker, and Andy Statman among their influences. The original mix of “Universe in Miniature” will be included on their debut album, Jewish Soul Stew, set for release after Shavuos.


Video: Raja ft. Lil Kk, “Shwaya Shwaya”

Two Israeli MCs, Ashdod rapper/producer Shlomo Raja and Dimona rapper Lil Kk, have released a clip entitled “Shwaya Shwaya” (Arabic for “Little by little”). I don’t really have a reason for featuring this, it’s just incredibly dope.

Steve “Gangsta Rabbi” Lieberman In Process Of Releasing New Album

Terminally-ill rocker Steve “The Gangsta Rabbi” Lieberman is currently compiling songs for his next album in real time on Soundcloud. Titled 2nd King of Jewish Punk (in reference to his King of Jewish Punk album from January), the album, which will be Lieberman’s 31st CD and 69th including tapes, is set for full release on April 14. The most recent tracks added include “My Very Last Year 3468 (Extreme Punk Thrash edit)” and “I Want A Bass With A Whammy Bar“.


The Promised Land (Sagol 59), “New Minglewood Blues” live in New York

The Promised Land (Israeli rapper Sagol 59‘s Hebrew-language Grateful Dead tribute project) recently appeared at The Deanery in Brooklyn, NY, during which they performed their cover of “New Minglewood Blues“. The onstage menagerie included Noah Lehrman on drums and Soulfarm‘s C Lanzbom on guitar. You can watch the clip below.


Video: Darshan ft. MorningAltars, “Remember the Future”

Indie rap duo Darshan (ePRHYME and Shir Yaakov) have released a video for “Remember the Future”, a track from their 2015 album Deeper and Higher. The video features the designs of MorningAltars (Day Schildkret), an “earth altar artist” based in California.
